It’s impossible to tell (in Hitler’s Germany, dissenters ended up in concentration camps) but, either way, ‘degenerate’ art had proved too popular. The Great German Art show was restaged every year, right up until 1945. The Degenerate Art show was never repeated. The Nazis destroyed a thousand of these modernist masterpieces.
